Facing pages - photo on one page, recipe on opposite page

You can set up your recipe layouts to automatically create facing pages where you have a recipe photo on the left and the recipe on the right page or vice versa.  To do this, go to Editor Activities>Layout & Design.  Click Select Recipe Layout.

  • Scroll to the Photo Position selection
  • Under Photo Position, select either "Before" recipe or "After/below" recipe.  Any other setting will cause the facing pages option to ignore it.
  • Next on the screen after choosing the photo position, check the check box for "Force facing pages"

Then click the "Save" button.

When you select "Force facing pages" and save, 3 other options are automatically changed and set for you:

  • Start recipes on divider back (this will hide Helpful Tips)
  • Force recipe photos to same page
  • Force ONE recipe per page

Now run a preview and you'll see your photos and recipe facing each other!

Note: if you have more than one photo, this may cause blank pages as the recipe will always be on the "opposite" side of where your first photo goes.  To avoid this, you can use the recipe Custom Photo Arranger so all photos fit on one page in a collage fashion.
